Induction cooking
Induction cooktops offer fast, energy efficient cooking and will keep your family safe and healthy.
“Scientists have found that around 12 per cent of childhood asthma in Australia can be attributed to the use of gas stoves for cooking.” with recent studies comparing gas cooking with smoking indoors. National Asthma Council
What can I do?
Upgrade your kitchen from a gas to an induction stove.
Benefits of induction cooktops
There is no open flame on an induction cooktop and the surface is cooled very quickly after use, making it safe to touch. Cooking times can be set and the cooktop turns off if there is a spill or the pan is removed. They are also easier to clean.
How does induction cooking work?
Induction cooking works by using electro-magnetic technology, where the cookware is heated, instead of the stove itself. Induction cooktops need cookware with a ferrous base.
Choosing the right induction cooktop
Do your research before you buy. There are smaller portable options for renters or small households. There is an upfront cost involved with de-installing gas and installing electrical circuits, but induction cooking will save you dollars in the long run.
How does this help our Net Zero target?
Stopping gas usage in the home is the quickest way to make an impact and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By also using solar or green energy, you are helping us meet our net zero targets.
